Promoting your products needs a parcel of tools in order to be successful and one of the two most powerful tools when it comes to getting your product noticed by journalists is great photography. The other is telling a compelling story and that’ll be the subject of my next post.
Take one of my clients Jangneus Design for example. This small online business based in Oxfordshire makes eco-designer kitchen cloths and tea towels. My first request to designer and owner Marie Jangneus-Davis was to supply me with both lifestyle and product shots. These beautiful images have been vital in getting busy home and lifestyle journalists to take this family run company seriously and we’ve gained coverage in the Sunday Times Home, Daily Mail, Homes & Gardens and Woman & Home to name but a few publications.
Another client, Lindy’s Cakes Ltd has also used photography to gain quality coverage in the media. By making sure that she had the rights to use images from her many cookery books on cake and cookie decorations, Lindy has gained great media exposure including pieces in www.goodtoknow.co.uk, www.hellomagazine.com and You & Your Wedding.
I have great contacts with product, food and portrait photographers as well as food stylists so if you need some advice, I’d be happy to help.
